Hollywood, Florida

If you have been following me on Instagram, you know that I took a mini vacation (my first one as a working baby!) over the 4th of July to visit Hollywood, Florida. My best friend’s grandmother has retired down there and lives in the most charming little apartment, which is one block away from the beach. The location is incredible and she is the sweetest old woman I have ever met, with a strange affinity for bologna and a warm demeanor. She was gracious enough to provide us with breakfasts and lunches during our stay there and gave us great tips on restaurants and places to visit. The Hollywood Broadwalk has some cute bars and restaurants, and we went mostly for the beach time. It was lovely to see a different side of her family. They seem to have a great life in Florida and I was happy I got to experience a small part of it. Working everyday with nothing to look forward to in the long run gets soul crushing, so this was the perfect break from office life that I needed. It was lovely to just read on the beach, listen to the waves, swim a little, and relax. The ocean always makes me feel like my problems are a hundred miles away. It helps that I had to get on a plane and go somewhere, I love flying. Our days were filled with incredible seafood, the nostalgia that comes with lunchmeat and cheese on bread, sunscreen and that incredible smell, people watching, pistachio soft serve that came to you half melted because of the weather, bad hair because of the humidity, Ben and Jerry’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream in a waffle cone, really awful pina coladas that were made with wine instead of rum, beach runs that left me sweating for hour, sun salutations on the beach at 7am, pool parties with fresh fruit and guacamole, and sleeping. It was the perfect chill vacation and I was just happy with the beach so it was great that I got so much more than that. Check out some awesome pictures from this trip!
